Privacy Policy
SwitchMyApps ("we," "us") publishes software migration guides at switchmyapps.com. This page explains, in plain English, what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can read every guide without creating an account or giving us anything.
- We only collect personal information you choose to send us through our forms.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- Some links go to software vendors. When you click one, the vendor's own privacy policy and cookies apply.
What we collect
1. Waitlist sign-up
If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address. We use it only to tell you when the site launches and when we publish new guides. We don't use a newsletter service. To unsubscribe, email garydbutler@gmail.com and we'll remove you.
Where form entries are stored
Form entries are stored in a Neon Postgres database, hosted through Vercel and Neon, in the US East region (Washington, D.C.). See Neon's privacy policy (Neon is part of Databricks): https://www.databricks.com/legal/privacynotice
3. Information sent automatically when you visit
Our site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel's servers process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time of the request, so they can deliver pages, keep the site secure, and prevent abuse. 4. Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views in aggregate. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
Cookies
- Our site: SwitchMyApps doesn't set any cookies of its own.
- Vendor and affiliate links: some links to software vendors may be affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure at /disclosure). If you click one, the vendor or its affiliate network (for example PartnerStack, Impact, or Awin) may set a cookie on its own site to record that you came from SwitchMyApps. That's how a commission gets credited if you sign up. Those cookies are controlled by the vendor or network under their own privacy policies, not by us. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, and doing so won't stop the vendor's site from working.
How we share information
We share personal information only:
- with service providers that run the site for us (hosting by Vercel, and form storage by Neon), only as needed to provide their service;
- if the law requires it; or
- to protect the site and its users from fraud or abuse.
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share your email with sponsors or vendors.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Server logs: kept by Vercel under its own retention policy.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop emailing you. Email garydbutler@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights. We'll honor applicable requests.
Children
SwitchMyApps is for businesses and adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires).
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
